The Hill Country Memorial Laboratory is a offers a comprehensive test menu and rapid turnaround times, specializing in clinical pathology and testing clinical specimens.

Effective June 12, 2017, the lab will have dedicated hours for outpatient services including blood draws and specimen drop-offs from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lab tests are done on different types of specimens and at specific times. The HCM Lab routinely tests blood, urine, tissue, cerebral spinal fluid and other bodily fluids.

The HCM Lab includes:

  • Clinical Chemistry oversees tests done on the fluid portion of blood, urine and other bodily fluids.
  • Hematology examines the cellular components of blood and the coagulation factors involved in clotting.
  • Microbiology deals with infectious diseases including those caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites.
  • The Blood Bank examines types, screens and cross-matches for compatible blood products. It is also involved with transfusions and infusion therapy.
  • Phlebotomy collects blood specimens for testing.

Staffed 24/7 by pathologists, lab technologists, lab technicians and phlebotomists, the HCM Lab has 30 full-time and part-time staff members dedicated to ensuring excellence in customer service for all of our patients and clients.

We are subject to the standards required by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) and maintain current CLIA licenses. The lab is also accredited by the Joint Commission (TJC).
