The Women’s Choice Awards identify the best hospitals nationwide that are women-friendly and align with women’s health care needs and preferences. These evidence-based awards reflect Hill Country Memorial’s exceptional clinical performance and women’s preferences when choosing health care providers for themselves and their families.

America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics

In 2018 Hill Country Memorial was recognized by Women’s Choice Award as an America’s Best Hospital for Obstetrics for the fifth consecutive year.

The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics award is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and what women say they want from a hospital. Scores were derived from data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys.

America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience

In 2018 Hill Country Memorial was recognized by Women’s Choice Award as one of American’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for the fifth consecutive time.

The America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience distinction is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction and recommendation scores. The 100 best scores in each of the four bed-size categories determine the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience award recipients. Hill Country Memorial was recognized in the category for hospitals with 100 beds or fewer.

America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety

In 2018, Hill Country Memorial was one of 522 hospitals in the nation to receive a Women’s Choice America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety Award, putting it in the top 16 percent of 3,179 U.S. hospitals.

The patient safety award methodology evaluates 11 measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services including infections and complications, patient survey results, and primary research about women’s health care choices.

To receive the award, hospitals must also use an “inpatient safe surgery checklist” to assess effective communication and safe practices before, during and after a surgery or procedure.

To provide the best care safely and effectively HCM uses things like surgery checklists, communication boards in procedure areas, and rigorous infection control processes.
