The first step to quitting smoking is making the commitment to yourself. Then the HCM Smoking Cessation Program can help you stick to it.
Led by Dawn Sparrow, HCM Smoking Cessation Program Coordinator, the HCM Smoking Cessation Program offers:
• Access to a free “Quit Line” hotline
• Free weekly support groups
• Group classes
• One-on-one coaching
Quitting smoking has immediate and long-term benefits at any age. Quitting immediately lowers one’s heart rate and blood pressure. It also reduces the long-term risk for heart attack, stroke, COPD and lung cancer.
Through the HCM Wellness Center’s program, the free Quit Line is available at any time. It offers five free counseling sessions with a live counselor and two weeks of free tobacco replacement therapy.
Quit Line participants can call at any time for help and additional support. If after six months, participants still need help quitting, they can be restarted for an additional set of free services. For access to the Quit Line, call the HCM Wellness Center at (830) 997-1355.
Group classes, support groups and coaching sessions are also available. For more information, call the HCM Wellness Center at (830) 997-1355.
Quitting smoking is hard, but you can do it with help. Support through the HCM Smoking Cessation Program can double your chances of quitting successfully.
